Default Ranger + Which Heroes?

I plan on taking my Ranger through PvE, because I can. However, unlike my Necro, I can't think of any synergetic builds. What works the best as a Ranger PC in Nightfall?

The obvious comes to mind: PC Barrager, with 2 Barrager Heroes an an Orders Necro.

But is there anything better?

2 Barrage and an Orders sounds very nice tbh. Maybe one barrage, one order, and a GftE+FTW Paragon would be good.

I plan on giving all the Barragers "GTFE", since it charges immediately after a good Barrage, therefore I can keep it on constantly. FTW sucks since they added a giant recharge and Rangers don't have an Expertise reduction on it.

Actually,I play my ranger with Jin and Margrid, sometimes only Jin, but when I feel I can get good mileage out of a 3 ranger team,I'll take both of them. I usually make Jin a Cripple Shot/Poison Ranger when I need to stop the warrior running in. But,at the moment, Jin and I run Burning Arrow/Apply Poison+Screaming, while Margrid is a Barrage/Interupter. We all carry traps(Jin has Dust, while Margrid has dust,Barbed, and Flame, and I have dust and barbed).

They spike rather decent, but they won't be as effective as a human team playing to spike, so I plan more for heavy degen/conditioning. Has gotten me to the Bone Palace, so I would think thatmakes it good.

Here's what I'm thinking:

Me
[skill]Barrage[/skill] [skill]Savage Shot[/skill] [skill]Distracting Shot[/skill] [skill]Favorable Winds[/skill] [skill]Throw Dirt[/skill] [skill]Frenzy[/skill] [skill]Whirling Defense[/skill] [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
16 Marksmanship - 13 Expertise

Margrid
[skill]Barrage[/skill] [skill]Savage Shot[/skill] [skill]Distracting Shot[/skill] [skill]Anthem of Envy[/skill] [skill]"Stand Your Ground!"[/skill] [skill]"Go for the Eyes!"[/skill] [skill]Whirling Defense[/skill] [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
16 Marks - 13 Expertise (major) - 6 Command

Acolyte Jin
[skill]Barrage[/skill] [skill]Savage Shot[/skill] [skill]Distracting Shot[/skill] [skill]"Never Surrender!"[/skill] [skill]"Stand Your Ground!"[/skill] [skill]"Go for the Eyes!"[/skill] [skill]Whirling Defense[/skill] [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
16 Marks - 13 Expertise (major) - 6 Command

Olias
[skill]Order of the Vampire[/skill][skill]Blood Ritual[/skill][skill]Well of Blood[/skill][skill]Shield of Absorption[/skill][skill]Aegis[/skill][skill]Protective Spirit[/skill][skill]Awaken the Blood[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]
16 Blood - 13 SR (Sup) - 3 Curses (sup) - 8 Protection Prayers.

That's my plan. And it seems devilishly effective.

Good idea. Hadn't though about that.

But what about the rest of the build? Mainly the Orders: No clue how to do that.

For funs, I set up myself with Inciderary Arrows and Arcane Mimicry.
Then Jin with what ever Prep I'm in the mood for plus Practiced Stance. Usually RtW and DMG skills as I feel she fails to spread degen preps around enough.

Done right you can keep Inciderary Arrows up all the time.

Vamp Short Bow for me. Jin has some Green Bow that dropped for me the first week NF was out. Some Sundering +1 Marks Bow, I dunno.

[skill=big]Incendiary Arrows[/skill]

How do you make this stay up constantly? The problem with this skill is that it is too short to be an elite with preps like RTW that last for 24 seconds and it recharges in 12 seconds. What do you use to keep this elite going past its 8 seconds?

Barrage build is certainly nice but I think you'll get really pissed soon with it because a lot of enemies use block/evade skills, especially after you nuke your tank using your barrage and enemy's whirling defense And I'm sure any encounter with few arms of insanity would drive you insane

my r is primarily bm using cop and el etc so the pet is the real tank/damage and with her I ran a second bm and then 2 necros one mm and one orders or curse depending. Just switch either you or the other r to broadhead (or just run concussion as a backup all the time) for certain missions/bosses and you can roll over most things. For a while I ran the sin hero as a bloody barrager but I prefer the second necro. You might not.

I don't have the exact setup that worked for my warrior, but the general idea should be applicable with a ranger.
- Necro : Blood (orders, BR, well, awaken) / Motivation (party energy management), Rez
+
- Paragon (when you get him) : Swordsmanship (energy attacks), Leadership (energy management, Aggressive Refrain), Command (adrenaline shouts), leftovers in Tactics (WY), Disrupting Blow, Rez
+
- Ranger : Marksmanship+Expertise (Barrage or Broad Head, Savage, Distracting) / Command (shouts only), Rez
or
- Warrior : Axe AoE / Tactics (Watch Yourself) / Command (GftE), Disrupting Blow, IAS

However I think you don't need : Heal Party, Rebirth or any other hard rez (you will rarely die), Heal Sig, Troll Unguent, Whirling (your necro & monks will be the main targets)... Go all out offense, and let your monk henchmen do the healing while fueled by the necro. Take care of your necro hero and everything should be smooth. In mid-game explorables, you can even drop a monk and give protection prayers to your necro.

I get excellent results from just running Syria's R/Ps with minions. For even more fun, I run Olias as a second MM. Jagged Bones on Olias and OoU on me.

20 minions (with complimentary elites), Para shouts (that affect minions) and two Barragers, and then Mhenlo, Khimm, Cynn and Devona.

Outside RoT, this utterly crushes *everything*

Good points about the rezzes, Frog. I never paid much attention to that - just brought them in case. Often I'll only run 4 or 5 skills on heroes' bars depending on certain situations. It seems to keep them from pinning themselves on 0 energy.

Which Paragon shouts affect minions? I tested a few in the Great Temple of Balthazar and couldn't seem to get any to trigger. I only have a few shouts unlocked, by the way, so my testing was extremely limited.

If you're using 2 or 3 barragers, I would take Favorable Winds and Winnowing, because +10 damager per arrow really adds up with multiple copies of Barrage. Also, don't forget that an IAS with Barrage makes using a Hornbow more effective than using a flatbow.

The paragon shouts which effect minions are the "on next attack" and not the "on next attack skill." Otherwise, things like Anthem of Flame would be "I win!" buttons.

I prefer monk, necro, and my derv as an Rt. Necro has all the minions including flesh golem and shambling horror. My Der/Rt uses all weapon spells and has pain, union, etc spirits.
